How to Sell

Simple steps to start selling your unwanted alcohol using the BottleSwap Marketplace.

Step 1

Create an account or log in

To start selling, create an account or log in to your existing account.

Click Sign Up if you’re new, or Login if you already have an account.

Step 2

Access your account

Once you’ve created your account, sign in by clicking Sign In in the top navigation bar.

If you’re already logged in, simply click the My Account icon in the navigation menu.

Step 3

Open your Seller Dashboard

After signing in, you’ll be taken to your account area.

Click Go to Seller Dashboard to access your personalised seller dashboard, where you can manage your store, orders, and account details.

Step 4

Explore the Seller Dashboard

Before adding your first product, take a moment to explore your seller dashboard.

From your dashboard, you’ll be able to view orders, add and manage products, access analytics and connect your payment settings.

Step 5

Connect Your Stripe Account

To receive payments for the products you sell, you’ll need to connect your Stripe account in the Payments tab on your dashboard to ensure you receive funds once your product has sold and passed the compliance process. Stripe is a trusted world wide payment system.

If you don’t already have a stripe account, you can sign up here.

If you do not have a Stripe account connected, your product will not be eligible for checkout on the marketplace.

Step 6

Start Selling

Click Add New Product and complete all required fields on the product page.

Once saved, your product will automatically be published on the marketplace.

You can start selling either by going through the Seller Dashboard or click the Start Selling  button in your account area to begin setting up your store.

Professional Tips to Increase Your Sales

1. Use high-quality photos

High-quality photos build trust and help your items sell faster. Please follow these three simple standards:

Front & Back: Provide clear, high-resolution photos of both labels.

Details: Capture the seal and any unique markings to verify condition

Clean Background: Use a plain, neutral surface.

No Distractions: Keep people, pets, and household clutter out of the frame

Natural Light: Use soft, indirect daylight for the most accurate colour.

2. Write clear and detailed descriptions
Include important information such as size, ingredients, vintage, or any special features. The more helpful your description is, the easier it is for customers to make a purchase.

3. Choose the right category and tags
Selecting the most relevant category and adding useful tags helps customers find your product when browsing or searching the marketplace.

4. Price competitively

To ensure your listings are competitive and attract potential buyers quickly, we recommend a strategic approach to pricing. Setting a fair market value not only builds trust with the community but also significantly increases the likelihood of a successful sale. Before setting your price, research similar listings on BottleSwap and check the current Recommended Retail Price (RRP) from major retailers. As a general rule, items on BottleSwap should be priced between 5% and 10% below the lowest current retail price.

5. Keep your listings updated
Regularly review your products to ensure information, images, and stock availability are accurate.

6. Have a bottle nearing a best-before date?
If a bottle is approaching its best-before date, clearly mention this in your product description so buyers know exactly what to expect. Being transparent helps build trust and reduces the chance of issues after purchase. You may also consider pricing the item more competitively to help it sell more quickly.
